George Sawicki
George Y. Sawicki has been a key member of SawickiTarella Architecture + Design since joining the firm in 1976. Mr. Sawicki’s primary experience is in luxury retail, corporate, and residential projects, as well as new building construction and project management. He has worked with clients throughout the United States, and with European clients in Great Britain, France, Italy, Germany and Switzerland.
Throughout his career, Mr. Sawicki has been responsible for the design, production and project management of various project types. Ranging from New York City to California, his projects have included luxury retail stores and retail showrooms, corporate interiors, banking projects, office buildings, residences, and such unique design commissions as the Kaufman Astoria Film and Television Studios, The Ukrainian Museum in New York City, and luxury retail projects in Cancun, Mexico, and St. Thomas, US Virgin Islands.
Mr. Sawicki is a 1968 graduate of the Pratt Institute’s School of Architecture and a member of the American Institute of Architects. He obtained his New York State license in 1973, became a principal and officer of STAD in 1981, and since 1998 has been the firm’s senior managing principal.
Joseph Tarella
Joseph Tarella brings vast, diverse experience to SawickiTarella Architecture + Design. For more than twenty-five years, he has overseen the design and construction of facilities for major domestic and international companies throughout the United States. He has been involved in developing corporate headquarters, bank branches, retail-store rollouts, and luxury-brand flagships as well as in helping foreign corporations expand their operations in the US market.
Prior to his work at STAD, Mr. Tarella participated in numerous high-profile design projects, including the New York headquarters tower of National Westminster Bank and the master-plan developments of Battery Park City and 42nd Street in New York City.
Mr. Tarella is a distinguished graduate of Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture and Planning, a member of the American Institute of Architects, and is registered to practice in numerous states throughout the United States.
